Permafrost Galleries

Photos in our permafrost galleries have been provided by USPA members and are intended as an educational resource. Galleries show examples of permafrost features, environments, land forms, engineering applications, and engineering challenges. We present galleries by submitter below. User Guidelines

The images from USPA's Permafrost Gallery, are intended for educational purposes only. Any commercial use of these images is strictly prohibited unless otherwise granted by the copyright holder

Users have permission to use photos and encourage appropriate citation of the photos based on how they are used. We encourage users to contact photo contributors with specific questions. If you can not reach a contributor, please contact the USPA.

Educational applications include K-12 teachers and students, University teachers and students, general public and professional educational uses.

Submitter Guidelines

We welcome additional photo contributions! If you have photos you would like to share, please email us for instructions on how to provide them.

NOTE: By submitting photos, you agree to grant the United States Permafrost Association (USPA) a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual license to share your images for educational purposes, in print, and through its website and social media. You also understand that images posted here are provided for USPA members and other visitors to share for educational purposes. Please submit only those photos for which you are the copyright holder. Thank you.

With each photo submission, please include a short descriptive caption, include the general location of the photo and date it was taken, and who took the photo. Content will be reviewed by a USPA committee and we will contact submitters with any questions.

Acceptable file types include jpg and png files. Photo quality should be good enough to see the features of interest. File sizes should be below 2 Mb. Please see existing galleries for example content.
